Neuroscience, Social Psychology, and Robotics
Ali received a B.A. in Psychology from University of Maryland-College Park and an M.A. in Human Factors from Catholic University of America.
In the past Ali's research interests concerned the inclusion of avatars displaying social affective cues in the context of virtual learning environments. Additionally, he worked at Northrop Grumman Corporation, where he utilized research in areas of cognition such as working memory, spatial abilities and mental models to design web-based applications for the Social Security Administration.
Ali's current research interests lie at the intersection of neuroscience, social psychology, and robotics. He is specifically interested in how the design of a robot lends humans to ascribe intentionality to it.
